The individual systems are grouped according to the type of industry involved e.g. Power Stations, Gas Works, Quarries, etc., irrespective of the County in which they are situated.

The collieries are however devided into the Counties of location.

The terminology and abbreviations used, concerning the locomotives are those developed

by the Birmingham Locomotive Club and used in their publications:-

Wheel arrangement & Type, Manufacturer, Number & Date followed by Cylinder Position, Name or number carried.

The Gauge is Standard unless otherwise stated.
